Satkhira Vision: Rezaul Islam(48), son of Mazed Sarder of Badghata village in Shyamnagar upazila and a suspected ringleader of a motorcycle snatching gang, was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Noornagar area in Shyamnagar early Saturday.
Md Elius Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said a team of Detective Branch of police arrested Rezaul, wanted in several cases including theft and abduction, from Mirpur area of Dhaka on Thursday.
After gleaning information from Rezaul, a team of police conducted a drive along with him in the area to recover motorcycles.
When the team reached the area, the members of the gang, opened fire on them, prompting them to fire back that triggered the gunfight, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police recovered a one shooter gun and a round of bullet from the spot.
